Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Sedam Taluk Unit, Submits Petition to Superintendent of Police

A petition was submitted to the Superintendent of Police by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Sedam Taluk Unit, urging for the provision of new residential quarters for police personnel in the Sedam, Malkhed, and Kurukunta police station limits within Sedam Taluk. The petition also highlighted the increasing accidents due to lorries parked on both sides of the four-lane road from Basaveshwara Circle to Vasavadatta Factory in Sedam town, and demanded measures to address this issue. The petition stated that police personnel in Sedam, Malkhed, and Kurukunta stations, which fall under the jurisdiction of the Sedam police station (a very large station for many years), lack proper police residential quarters and have been living in private accommodations for a long time. With numerous factories in Sedam Taluk, the presence of police is essential due to the high population density. The petition emphasized that while police protect the public, their own safety is compromised. Therefore, the Vedike requested the construction of police residential quarters. Furthermore, as Sedam is a large town with many factories nearby, a large number of lorries from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Maharashtra frequent the area. These lorries are often parked on both sides of the road, leading to two to three accidents every month, with a high number of youth fatalities. The petition urged the authorities to arrange for a separate parking area for these lorries. Additionally, it highlighted that dangerous accidents frequently occur near the Ranjol Cross on the Hyderabad road, requesting the installation of speed breakers on both the Ranjol road and the main Hyderabad road to prevent accidents. The petition concluded by stating that these issues are serious and should be considered from the public’s welfare perspective.Present on the occasion were Ramachandra Guttedar (President, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike, Sedam), Gopal Nateekar, Vishwanath Patil, Rajkumar B., Chandrashekhar Maliwal, Nijaling Swami, and Satish Biranur.Report by imran khan kalaburagi, karnataka
