The 56th Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival was grandly celebrated from August 16 to 17 at the Sri Krishna Mandir and Sri Hanuma Bheema Madhva Mandir, located in Vidyanagar, Kalaburagi. The event was held under the direction of Sri Sri Vishwaprasanna Teertha, the successor of Sri Sri Vishwesha Teertha of the Pejavara Matha, and in association with the Akhila Bharata Madhva Maha Mandala Sri Jayateertha Vidyarthi Nilaya, the organizers said.On the evening of the 16th, there were a series of events, including a discourse by Pandit Gopala Acharya, followed by Kolata (stick dance), Bharatanatyam performances by the Varnasindhu Kala team, and bhajans by various groups. The day concluded with the Arghya ceremony for Lord Krishna.On the evening of the 17th, BJP City President Chandu Patil inaugurated the Gopala Kavali and Rathotsava (chariot festival).The event was attended by Pandit Gopalachar Akamanchi, President of the Sri Krishna Mandir Managing Committee Ranganath Desai, Secretaries Kishore Deshpande, Vidyasagar Kulkarni Revur, Manjunath Kulkarni, Rama Das, Prahlad Nadagauda, and a large number of students and devotees.
