APCR Zonal Meet Held in Kalaburagi to Strengthen Civil Rights Work Across Kalyana KarnatakaKalaburagi:The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) organized a zonal-level meeting in Kalaburagi, bringing together representatives from Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, and Raichur districts, with the aim of strengthening civil and legal rights activism across the Kalyana Karnataka region.The zonal meet was conducted as part of APCR’s statewide strategy to activate district-level committees and expand grassroots civil rights interventions. Addressing the gathering, APCR State President Sudhir Kumar Murali said that zonal meetings play a critical role in building leadership, improving organizational structure, and ensuring effective response to civil rights violations.Kalaburagi District APCR Committee FormedAs part of the programme, a joining and organizational formation drive was conducted. During the meeting, the Kalaburagi District APCR Committee was formally constituted.Dr. Savita R. Giri was appointed as the Regular District President, along with the appointment of a Vice President and four Honorary Presidents. The decision to appoint a woman as District President was highlighted as a significant step toward women’s empowerment in civil rights leadership.Senior Officials and Activists PresentThe programme was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp in the presence of Praveen H. Naik, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic), Kalaburagi; Sudhir Kumar Murali, State President, APCR; Advocate Salam; Mehedi Kaleem; and Shaik Shafi Ahmed, State Coordinator, APCR.Need for Civil Rights Awareness and Legal Support EmphasizedSpeakers at the meet stressed the growing need for civil rights awareness, accessible legal support for marginalized and vulnerable communities, and structured training programmes for social activists to effectively counter injustice, discrimination, and misuse of power.APCR Mission and ObjectivesThe Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) works with the following core objectives:Educating citizens about their civil and constitutional rightsOperating a helpline to counsel and guide the deprived and downtroddenConducting training programmes for social activistsProtecting and safeguarding the legal rights of oppressed communitiesProviding legal defence and support to victims of injustice and human rights violationsResolution to Strengthen District-Level ActionThe zonal meet concluded with a resolution to strengthen APCR’s district-level functioning and to actively intervene in civil rights violations through legal action, public education, and advocacy-based initiatives across Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, and Raichur districts.
